City tours

The charming twin town of Krems-Stein is located at the edge of the Wachau, one of the Danube valley’s most beautiful regions. Krems an der Donau is worth visiting all year round! Immerse yourself in the region that lies at the edge of the Nibelungen stream: the Wachaua UNESCO World Heritage and Natural Heritage Site! Few cities in Austria have such a wide variety of cultural, historical and culinary attractions to offer. You can discover and experience Krems and Stein in the course of a conventional tour, as part of an ‘enjoyment’ city tour or as part of the Kremser Schmidttour which elaborates on the life and times of the artist Martin Johann Schmidt.

Wachaubahn

The big diversity of nature and culture in such a small area is what makes the Wachau region so magical. All this can be enjoyed and experienced in all its glory whilst taking a trip on the Wachaubahn train.

A little distance off the main road, situated between ancient walls, vineyards and flourishing embankments, the Wachau region’s essence remains intact. This is the Wachaubahn train’s territory. It has operated in the region for more than a hundred years - and today it connects Krems with Emmersdorf, which is located just opposite Melk. The route is laid out in such manner, that its elevated position affords riders great views of the World Heritage landscape.
